In anticipation of the festival\, we’ll have five Obon dance practices this year. \n\nMonday\, June 22\nWednesday\, June 24\nThursday\, June 25\nMonday\, June 29\nWednesday\, July 1\n\nPractices will run from 7:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. at the gym in the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin Annex (632 North 5th St\, San Jose) \nThe music for the dances range from Japanese folk songs (ex. Tanko Bushi) to Japanese popular tunes (ex. Sukiyaki and Pokemon Ondo) to ones created by Japanese Americans (Ei Jai Nai Ka). Every is welcomed to attend! No previous experience necessary. \nThis year’s Obon Festival is scheduled for July 11th and 12th.

DESCRIPTION:Service to celebrate the new year. During the service the installation of officers of the various organizations of the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin is conducted. The service is followed by refreshments provided by the Board and the Office staff. \nPlease note that this service is in the Annex due to the large number of attendees.
