Our Betsuin should be a safe place for all. We should, as the Dharma teaches us, accept all who come to us, just as they are.

But what does it mean to accept someone as they are?

What does it mean to make them feel accepted?

What does it feel like to be accepted?

Join us for a day of listening, sharing, discussing, and accepting.

Members of the LGBTQ community, along with family members and leaders in the community of support will be there to help us learn.  Our speakers include Janet Umezu, noted authors (Two Spirits, One Heart) and speakers Marsha Aizumi and Aiden Aizumi, Dr. Serenity Sercesión and Amy Umezu. We are also please to have the help of Gabrielle Antolovich of the Billy DeFrank Center and Kyle Matsumoto Burch of South Bay Queer and Asian.

Min’na No Mura, or Village for Everyone is an LGBTQ+ Awareness and Outreach campaign of the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin. Modeling similar programs in other communities and from other churches, we are anxious to begin this conversation to life in our community.
