San Jose Buddhist Judo Club

The San Jose Buddhist Judo Club is one of the oldest and most reputable Judo clubs in the Bay Area.  It was established in 1947 and has produced many champions and outstanding students.  The students have learned to use the disciplines of Judo to perfect themselves, to cultivate trust and respect from others, and to become a value to society.

The San Jose Buddhist Judo Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Thanks to our dedicated instructors, who are all volunteers and donate their time and efforts, we are able to provide quality instruction in the art and sport of Judo at a minimum fee to students of all ages.  With over 200 members, we are one of the largest Judo club in the United States and we pride ourselves in serving the community with a means for families and individuals to enjoy Judo as an organized sport or recreational activity.

Practices are held in the Annex of the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin at 632 N. 5th St, San Jose, CA.

How do I enroll?

San Jose Buddhist Judo Club is open to the public for male and female students 7 years and older. However, we will accept 5 to 6 year old students in the PRE-JUDO class if another member of the family is a current member and if there is an opening available as space is limited to a certain number of students. Admission into the PRE-JUDO class is at the discretion of the instructor.

Please visit our dojo to observe our classes and pick-up an information packet any time during our regularly scheduled practices. The packet contains information about our club and its policies, and the forms for enrollment. We can answer any additional questions you may have during your visit.
