The Junior Young Buddhists Association (Jr YBA) is a social and religious organization for students from 8th-12th grade. Students meet monthly and participate in activities such as general meetings, open gym, conferences and other social events. The Jr YBA provides an opportunity for students to have fun, meet new people, do service projects and learn more about Buddhism. The organization is student-led with volunteer adult advisors in all aspects of the organization. The Jr YBA is CA AB506 compliant under the auspices of the the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, and all events are chaperoned by adults.

Annual opt-in events include:
  • Social events
  • Community Service events
  • Attending Jr YBA conferences across the state
  • Sports tournament(s)
  • Youth Conference planning (Every other year)
  • Jr YBA bake sales
  • “Big” Trip
  • Help at the Betsuin’s Obon Festival (July) and our Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser (February)
