This verse was written by Shan-Tao (Zendo in Japanese), who is the Fifth Patriarch of Jodo Shinshu. It is used at the beginning of Jodo Shinshu services. Lines starting with # are read only by the leader. ‘-‘ denote an extension of the sound. ‘^’ denote a very short break.
